How to start Solo Travelling?

Image
Welcome Back! Solo travelling, why? Are you that lonely? Nope, I just love being able to do things on my own even if I have to do it by myself.  I've always been the one to say that it needs to be done and whoever can do it, they should. But the most important thing that needs to be understood is that, you need to love yourself immensely in order to spend time with yourself, because you've got to visit the places alone, eat alone, walk alone, and the list just goes on. Of course you'll meet great people on the way, but are you willing to spend all your time with yourself when it's needed? That's the question. I love my alone time and my own space, and after travelling solo, I love it forever more, which is why I always say, if possible, TRAVEL SOLO. If you have doubts on the self-love or spending time alone part, travel alone in your city first, spend time with yourself, see how it feels and when you're ready, pick up your bags and leave. Starting solo travel c

Kashi, Banaras - The oldest city in the world!

Last year, after having travelled to the mountains for years, I decided it was time to explore more and I decided to pack my bags and head to Kash, Varanasi. Little did I know that time, I would come back from Kashi, but my heart would forever be stuck in the small alleys, temples, Ganges, and the brilliant food that's offered by the city locals.   The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, is one of the 12 jyotirlingas, which has one of the most calming Mangala aarti, the Manikarnika Ghat, Assi Ghat and Dashashwamed Ghat are few of the very famous ghats of Varanasi that offer aartis every day at 6 PM to Ganga River, it's the most peaceful sight. The locals at the ghat also offer lemon tea, which is sweet, with a little masala and is just the right temperature (i.e., warm).  There are countless places where you can eat street food, and Deena Chaat Bhandar has the best Tomato chaat in Varanasi. Truly a food lover paradise with the best food! Varanasi is said to be the oldest city in the world

Hostels or hotels? Solo travel and the dilemmas that come with it.

Image
Hello readers! So, the one question that people always tend to ask me is, why I choose to stay in hostels rather than choosing a hotel? Well, hostel culture and the vibe that comes with it, is something that I chase on a regular basis. Not only do you find different people, but you also learn so much about their cultures, lifestyles, and so much more. The one great thing about staying at hostels is that you learn how to be more responsible. Whether you stay in dorms or take a private room, you'll always be alert and always have your guard up because you took a journey alone and are willing to prove to everyone but most importantly yourself that you can do it. It's the smallest things that change your day-to-day life scenarios. On the other hand, hotels are places which offer more comfort, room service, breakfast in bed chill scenes, but that comes with a hefty price. Anyone who is willing to spend money like that should opt for a hotel but for me, budget and meeting likeminded

Bir - The land of magical sunsets and the best people!

Bir, home away from home.   Back in 2021 I visited Bir after I quit my job and was tired of working overtime and listening to everyone talk about things that mattered to them, but I had no one to talk to, which sounds like a cry for help, and probably back in the day, it was.  Today I look back and I have the greatest smile because if it wasn't for that trip, I would have missed on some flawless sunsets, wonderful people, and a place far in the mountains that I can call home.  I booked a bus, it was an overnight journey, booked 2 different hostels to stay at, packed my bags and decided to leave. The weather was perfect, it was my first time staying at a hostel, which made my excited and anxious at the same time. One thing we need to know about hostels and solo tripping is, you will go on a trip solo, but when you stay at hostels, you will never return from a trip solo, you'll return with endless friends who would love to hang around and meet you soon! It's the greatest bl

Solo Travel - A journey you take for yourself.

Welcome back to my blog,   Hopefully by now you know that I go by the name Drunkwriter21 on all my social media handles, while it suggests that I write drunk, that's absolutely not the case. I am a blunt person who speaks what's on her mind and for the longest time I felt like I had lost my voice, and when I started to travel solo, I felt like I found my voice again.  I started my journey in 2019, and then COVID-19 hit, and all travel stopped in 2020, but my heart was forever lost in the mighty Himalayas, and I knew I had to go back sooner or later to find it, little did I know, I would lose myself completely in Himalayas and there would be no turning back.  Solo travel empowers you in ways which can't be described in a single blog, which is why I have decided to write as much as I can before I can't anymore.  Initially solo travelling for me started as a way to escape reality and the everyday life problems that I was suffering from, eventually, with every trip I took,
